Dr. Andrew Hook
University of Nottingham, United Kingdom
In my research I seek to develop biomaterials that positively impact the healthcare sector, focusing on exploring the biological-material interface through an interdisciplinary approach. I have pioneered high throughput screening methodologies for the discovery of novel biomaterials, focusing on polymers resistant to bacterial attachment. I focus on developing multi-functional materials that are able to respond to the complex in vivo environment. I have garnered a range of experimental skills in varied disciplines including advanced microscopy and cell culture methods as well as surface analysis techniques such as ToF-SIMS, XPS, AFM, QCM and SPR.
